Is InterServer’s $1 for 3 Months Deal Worth It? (What Happens After)

Rate this page

Last verified at InterServer checkout: 1 September 2026 · By Vikash Sharma

Short answer: It is a real offer, not a trial — three months of the full Standard plan for $1 total. The catch is not hidden, but it is rarely stated: when the promo ends you move to $2.50/month, and at the first renewal after that you move to $7.00/month. If you want a rate that never rises, the $1 deal is the wrong door — order the separate Price Lock plan at $5.00/month instead.

What you actually get for the $1

The same Standard Web Hosting other customers pay full price for, not a cut-down trial tier:

  • Unlimited SSD storage and transfer
  • Unlimited domains and email accounts
  • Free SSL, applied automatically
  • Free site migration from your current host
  • 24/7 in-house support

Nothing is withheld during the promo period. That part of the marketing is accurate.

The part that is not on the banner

PeriodWhat you pay
Months 1–3$1.00 total
Rest of the intro term$2.50/month
First renewal onwards$7.00/month

That is a step from $0.33/month equivalent to $7.00/month across the life of the account. It is not a scam — InterServer prints the renewal rate in the cart before you pay — but it is a number almost no review site quotes next to the $1 headline.

So is it worth taking?

Yes, if

  • You want to test a host properly before committing — three months on a real plan tells you far more than a 30-day refund window
  • You are moving a site and want the migration done before you spend anything meaningful
  • You are building something with a short, known lifespan

No, if

  • This is a site you intend to keep for years — you are signing up to $7.00/month with extra steps
  • You specifically came for the price-lock reputation — that belongs to a different plan
  • You would forget to check the invoice twelve months later

The alternative most people actually want

If the appeal was “cheap and it stays cheap”, the Price Lock plan is the closer match: $5.00/month that does not rise, and the code 1PENNYDEAL takes the first month to $0.01. You give up the $1-for-3-months headline and get a flat line instead. Over three years that is $180 against $191.50 — and the gap keeps widening.

The full comparison is in Price Lock vs Standard.

Before you pay, check one line

In the cart, under the plan name, InterServer shows “Renews at $X.XX/month”. With the $1 promo applied it will still read $7.00, because a coupon discounts the first term and never the renewal. Seeing that for yourself is the whole lesson.
