Does InterServer’s Price Lock Cover VPS and Dedicated Servers?

Rate this page

Last verified at InterServer checkout: 1 September 2026 · By Vikash Sharma

Short answer: No. The Price Lock guarantee belongs to one shared hosting plan — Price Lock Web Hosting at $5.00/month. InterServer’s VPS and dedicated servers are separate products that renew at whatever rate is listed for them. Any page telling you your VPS or dedicated server price is locked for life is applying a shared-hosting promise to the wrong product.

What is and is not covered

ProductPrice behaviourPrice Lock?
Price Lock Web Hosting$5.00/mo, does not rise while the account stays on the planYes
Standard Web Hosting$2.50/mo intro, renews at $7.00/moNo
VPSListed from $3/mo, renews at its listed rateNo
Dedicated serversListed from $49/mo, renews at its listed rateNo

The shared hosting figures were read at InterServer’s checkout on 1 September 2026. The VPS and dedicated starting prices were last checked on 21 July 2026 — older, so confirm them in the cart.

Why the confusion exists

For years InterServer’s “Price Lock Guarantee” was written as a company-wide philosophy rather than a product, and a great deal of coverage from 2021–2024 repeats it that way. It now names a specific plan. Reviews written before the change — including older pages on this site, which we have corrected — describe an arrangement that no longer exists in that form.

Does that make VPS or dedicated a bad deal?

No — it makes them normal. Almost no provider price-locks VPS or dedicated hardware, because the underlying cost of that hardware changes. What matters is that you check the renewal figure for the specific plan you are ordering rather than assuming a guarantee carries across the catalogue. InterServer prints that figure in the cart like it does for shared.

If a flat, never-moving bill is the thing you actually want, the shared Price Lock plan is the only product in the range that provides it.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Price Lock cover reseller hosting?

The guarantee is documented against the shared Price Lock Web Hosting plan. For any other product, including reseller, check the renewal line in the cart before ordering rather than assuming coverage.

If I upgrade from shared Price Lock to a VPS, do I keep the locked rate?

No. The lock is attached to that plan. Moving to a VPS is a new product at its own price, and the shared plan’s guarantee does not follow you.

What happens to the lock if I cancel and come back?

You would be ordering fresh at whatever the current rate is. The guarantee holds while the account stays on the plan, not forever against your name.
